MANAMA: Showcasing the cultural heritage and spirit of Onam in the diaspora, Vadakara Sahrudaya Vedi organized its annual celebration, “Poovili 2026,” with massive community participation at The Indian Club. The event was officially inaugurated by Indian Club President Joseph Joy in the presence of prominent social and cultural figures across Bahrain.

Presided over by Sahrudaya Vedi President N.P. Ashraf, the inaugural session opened with a welcome address by Secretary M.C. Pavithran. Felicitations were delivered by Indian School Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, ICRF Advisor Dr. Babu Ramachandran, CMN Trust Chairman Pampavasan Nair, and Sahrudaya Vedi Chief Patron R. Pavithran, all of whom praised the organizers for their meticulous execution of the event.

The celebration featured a variety of cultural programs performed by members and their children, including group songs, Oppana, and Thiruvathira. The day concluded with a traditional Onam Sadhya served to more than 1,000 attendees.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Pratibha Patron Sreejith, KMCC representative A.P. Faisal, OICC President Gafoor Unnikulam, IYCC President Richi Kalathoorath, social worker E.V. Rajeevan, Poovili Chairman Ashokan T., and Treasurer V.P. Ranjith. Poovili General Convener Shashidharan M. proposed the vote of thanks.
