The Indian School Junior Wing Celebrates International Day of Yoga with Enthusiastic Participation

MANAMA: As part of its vibrant activities for the 2026–2027 academic year, The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) Junior Wing celebrated the International Day of Yoga with a series of engaging sessions on June 21, 2026. The event was organized to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and the holistic benefits of integrating yoga into daily life.

Emphasizing the core theme of cultivating a healthy body, a calm mind, and a balanced lifestyle, the celebration saw active participation from students ranging from LKG to Grade 3. Dressed in white Physical Education (PE) uniforms, the young children turned the school auditorium into a serene space as they performed various yoga postures under the guidance of the physical education teachers. Activity Head Teacher Shabana Suresh, along with other staff members, also joined the sessions.

The youngsters demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, discipline, and confidence while performing the various asanas. The session commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the global significance of the International Day of Yoga and the numerous health benefits of regular practice. The instructors then guided the young students through a series of simple yoga postures and breathing exercises meticulously designed to improve flexibility, concentration, and overall well-being.

The calm and focused atmosphere generated during the sessions served as an excellent practical lesson for the children in the value of self-discipline. Throughout the event, teachers further explained how yoga contributes to physical health, emotional equilibrium, and stress management, encouraging the students to adopt these positive habits early on to lead happier, healthier lives.

ISB Chairman Adv. Binu Mannil Varughese, Secretary V. Rajapandiyan, Executive Committee Members, Principal Pamela Xavier, and Vice Principal Priya Laji highly commended the students for their energetic and heartfelt participation. The event concluded successfully, leaving a lasting impression and serving as a meaningful reminder of the importance of nurturing both physical and mental wellness from early childhood.
