MANAMA: The SPB–S. Janaki Tribute Musical Night, titled ‘Alaigal Oivathillai’, held as part of the ‘Sravanam 2026’ Onam celebrations organised by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS), offered a heartwarming experience for music lovers.The evening paid homage to the timeless classics of legendary playback singers S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and S. Janaki, featuring a lineup of iconic songs from the golden era of Malayalam and Tamil cinema. Conveying themes of love, longing, friendship, and human emotion, the performances transported the audience into a wave of nostalgia. Out of 51 singers who participated in the preliminary auditions across Bahrain, 21 top vocalists were selected to perform at the event.

The musical night stood out as a major cultural highlight of the Sravanam 2026 celebrations, honoring the artistic legacy of two icons who united generations through their music.

The official program commenced with a welcome speech by Rajeev P. Mathew. BKS Acting President Ravikumar and Sravanam General Convenor Harikrishnan delivered felicitations, while Music Club Convenor Mathew Jacob expressed the vote of thanks. Vinod Aliyath and Neha Sherin hosted the event.

The organizing team was led by Music Club Convenor Mathew Jacob alongside Joint Convenors Baby Paul, Rajeev Kallada, Nitha Beeto, and Prasanna Venugopal. Members of the BKS Executive Committee and Sravanam convenors were also in attendance. The collaborative efforts of the organizers, singers, and instrumentalists made the event an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts in Bahrain.
