MANAMA: Kerala Cultural Affairs Minister P. C. Vishnunath officially inaugurated the new academic year’s Pravesanolsavam (admission festival) for the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) Malayalam Mission School. Speaking at the ceremony held at the BKS Hall as part of the ‘Sravanam 2026’ celebrations, the Minister highlighted the immense importance of mother tongue education among the diaspora. He affirmed that the state government accords top priority to preserving Malayalam language and culture within expatriate communities.
The meeting was presided over by BKS President and Malayalam Mission Chapter President P. V. Radhakrishna Pillai, with General Secretary Varghese Karakkal extending the welcome address. During the event, P. V. Radhakrishna Pillai submitted a memorandum to the Minister outlining key matters and requisites concerning Malayalam Mission operations in Bahrain. In his address, Minister Vishnunath assured that prompt action would be taken after reviewing the points raised in the representation.
The Minister presented awards to the global competition winners organized by the Malayalam Mission. BKS school students Arjun Raj and Isha Ashik, who secured first place globally in the ‘Suthanjali’ competition, and teacher Praveena Vimal, who emerged as the global winner in the Bhasha Prathijna (Language Pledge) contest, were felicitated at the event.
BKS Vice President Devadas Kunnath, Literary Wing Secretary Vinayachandran Nair, Malayalam Mission School Principal-in-Charge Rajitha Ani, and Convener Sunesh Sasco were among those who attended the ceremony.
