Knights of Rizal Bahrain Chapter Marks 12th Knighting Ceremony with Celebrations of Patriotism and Service

MANAMA: The Knights of Rizal Bahrain Chapter successfully hosted its 12th Knighting, Promotion, and Awarding Ceremony at the Ramada Resort by Wyndham in Manama. The milestone event reaffirmed the chapter’s ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting the timeless ideals of the Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, within the overseas Filipino community.

Held in conjunction with the 165th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal and the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, this year’s event was guided by the theme, “Rizal’s Vision and Ideals: A Blueprint of Strength and Unity Amidst Modern Changes.”

The formal proceedings commenced with a traditional processional march, solemn wreath-laying rites, the rendition of the Bahraini and Philippine national anthems, the Pledge to the Flag, and the collective recitation of the Rizalian Oath, underscoring the members’ dedication to unity and national service.

Sir Dr. Joey Villanueva, the Regional Commander for the Middle East and Africa, delivered a motivational address titled “Carrying the Torch of Rizal’s Ideals in a Changing World,” where he stressed the enduring relevance of fraternity, responsibility, and Rizal’s teachings in navigating contemporary global shifts. He was also conferred a special recognition award during the evening for his outstanding leadership and contributions to strengthening the Order across the region.

Representing the Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E. Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga, Vice Consul Charlie Florian T. Prenicolas delivered the keynote address. In his speech, the Vice Consul highlighted Rizal’s courage, compassion, and vision for a unified nation, urging overseas Filipinos to consistently embody the values of resilience and selfless service. He further reminded the newly inducted members that entering the knighthood is a profound lifetime commitment to character and integrity.

The evening’s main highlight featured the formal Knighting Ceremony for new inductees, followed by Promotion Rites honoring seasoned members for their prolonged dedication. Distinguished Service Awards were also distributed to exemplary achievers within the chapter.

Enhancing the cultural depth of the event, a mini photo exhibit curated by Sir Arch. Ramon Angel was put on display, showcasing the life, literary works, and sacrifices of Dr. Jose P. Rizal to provide attendees with a deeper connection to his legacy of social justice and nation-building.

The ceremony concluded with the powerful Rizalian motto, “Non Omnis Moriar” (“Not all of me shall die”), symbolizing that the hero’s spirit lives on through the active community service of every Knight. The celebration wrapped up with a fellowship dinner and raffle draws, fostering camaraderie among the members of the Bahrain Chapter.
