Bahrain Condemns Attacks; Strengthens Ties with African Parliamentary Union

ISTANBUL: On the sidelines of the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Istanbul, HE Engineer Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Sisi Al-Buainain, Secretary-General of the Bahraini House of Representatives, met with HE Eddy Gadou Aboubakar, Secretary-General of the African Parliamentary Union.

During the session, Al-Sisi Al-Buainain issued a firm statement condemning recent Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain. He characterized the actions as unjustified escalations that violate international law and the principles of good neighborliness. Highlighting the danger posed to civilian infrastructure, he called on the international community to take a decisive stand to preserve regional security.

The Secretary-General emphasized that despite Bahrain’s consistent policy of de-escalation and peace initiatives, these efforts have been met with unacceptable aggression that threatens regional stability.

Beyond security concerns, the two officials discussed enhancing parliamentary cooperation between Bahrain and African nations. The talks focused on exchanging legislative expertise and strengthening coordination within international forums to support global development.

Mr. Aboubakar expressed his appreciation for Bahrain’s role in promoting global peace and affirmed the African Parliamentary Union’s commitment to intensifying joint efforts against regional and international challenges.
