MUHARRAQ: In a move to preserve the historical and cultural identity of the city, the Governor of Muharraq, HE Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al-Mannai, has announced plans to develop the flag platform at Arad Park into an integrated national monument.
The announcement came during a high-level coordination meeting attended by Deputy Governor Brigadier Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Ghatam, Municipal Council Chairman Abdulaziz Al-Naar, and Director General of Muharraq Municipality Engineer Khalid Al-Qallaf.
The project, which aligns with the broader Muharraq development initiative, aims to transform the existing platform—originally established for the public reception of His Majesty the King—into a permanent landmark. As a product of a strategic community partnership between the Governorate, the Municipality, and private engineering firms, the site will serve as a premier destination for both official and popular national celebrations.
Governor Al-Mannai emphasized that the project represents a qualitative leap in urban development, designed to embody the national flag as an eternal symbol of unity and sovereignty while enhancing the governorate’s historical landscape.
