Interior Minister Receives Former UK Minister

Discussions focus on regional security, emergency preparedness, and bolstering historic bilateral ties

MANAMA, Bahrain

Lieutenant General His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, received Lord Tariq Ahmad, the former Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa at the United Kingdom Foreign Office, this morning. The high-level meeting was held in the presence of His Excellency Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Police.

Welcoming Lord Tariq Ahmad, His Excellency the Minister of Interior emphasized that the enduring security and stability enjoyed by the Kingdom of Bahrain is rooted in the profound wisdom and leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He noted that His Majesty’s vision laid the bedrock of the modern state and fortified Bahrain’s national defense and security framework. This strategic foundation has empowered the Kingdom to consolidate its global standing and elevate its professional capabilities to manage emergency situations efficiently, creating a powerful shield that protects the homeland and preserves long-term stability.

During the discussions, the Minister praised the comprehensive and integrated measures implemented by the government under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He commended the government’s proactive role in navigating current regional complexities through an advanced framework designed to strengthen national readiness and seamlessly integrate governmental and public efforts.

Highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, His Excellency the Minister lauded the historic relations and strategic partnership shared by the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, reaffirming the mutual commitment to developing these bonds to serve shared interests.

The meeting concluded with both sides exploring potential avenues for closer cooperation and coordination. They focused on enhancing joint action, exchanging specialized expertise to effectively counter emerging security challenges, and fostering broader regional stability.
