ILA & ICAI Bahrain Chapter Celebrate Onam in Grand Style

MANAMA: The Indian Ladies Association (ILA), in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Bahrain Chapter, celebrated Onam 2026 at the Crowne Plaza, Bahrain, with a vibrant morning featuring traditional culture, music, dance, and community togetherness.

Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy, IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government of Kerala, graced the occasion as the Special Guest, accompanied by Rajesh Nambiar, President of the Kerala Social and Cultural Association (KSCA).

The festivities commenced with welcome addresses delivered by Tessy Cherian, ICAI Bahrain Chapter Chairman Vinod Rathi, and ILA President Smitha Jensen.

A colorful cultural lineup followed, showcasing classic Thiruvathira performances, cinematic dance routines, live instrumental sessions, a flute recital, and a traditional boat song and dance performance. The stage also featured ladies’ and couples’ fashion shows, along with an energetic tug-of-war competition that engaged the audience.

Guests, members, and families later gathered for the traditional Onam Sadhya feast. The afternoon concluded with DJ music on an open dance floor, alongside festive photo booths and community stalls.

Addressing the gathering, the organizers highlighted the core values of Onam, emphasizing unity, equality, sharing, and togetherness.

The event marked the second consecutive year of the ILA–ICAI collaboration, highlighting the ongoing partnership between the two organizations to promote Kerala’s cultural heritage in Bahrain.
