MANAMA, Bahrain – The Ladies’ Team of the Bahrain Odia Samaj celebrated Odisha’s iconic festival of womanhood, ‘Raja’, with immense joy and cultural enthusiasm at a special gathering held in Manama.
Deeply rooted in Odia tradition, Raja is a unique festival that honors womanhood, celebrates the fertility of Mother Earth, and welcomes the arrival of the monsoon season. The celebration is based on the traditional belief that Mother Earth undergoes a period of rest before the agricultural sowing season begins. During these days, the community pays tribute to nature while strengthening familial and community bonds.
The event in Manama beautifully captured the rich heritage and vibrant spirit of Odisha. Attired in traditional garments, the participants engaged in various cultural activities and shared festive delicacies, making the occasion a memorable showcase of togetherness and cultural preservation far from home.
