Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam Concludes ‘Pillaironam’ Festivities

MANAMA: Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) successfully wrapped up ‘Pillaironam’, a vibrant children’s festival marking the grand opening of its ‘Shravanam ’26’ Onam celebrations. The event witnessed large public participation, serving as a platform to showcase the creative talents of young community members.

The festivities commenced on Friday at 5:00 PM with a ceremonial Panchari Melam performance by young percussionists from the Sopanam Vadya Kala Sangham. BKS Acting President Ravikumar officially inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Rajiv P. Mathew, Ex-Officio member of Shravanam, welcomed the gathering, while Pillaironam Convener Boni Jose delivered the vote of thanks. Key officials including Shravanam General Convener Harikrishnan, executive committee members Vinayachandran Nair, Abhilash Vellukai, and Binu Karunakaran, alongside Vanitha Vedi General Secretary Nimmi Roshan, were in attendance.

Following the formal inauguration, a mega cultural programme featuring over 200 children captivated the audience. The showcase featured a blend of traditional Onam songs, skits, and diverse dance performances coordinated under the guidance of instructors Sarangi Sashidhar, Jyothiraj, and Sreejith Sreekumar. Children and parents also actively participated in traditional games and a fancy dress competition.

As part of the grand gathering, a traditional Onam feast (Onasadya) was served to over 1,200 pre-registered attendees. The event concluded successfully under the leadership of Convener Boni Jose, supported by Joint Conveners Reji Kuruvilla, Prashobh Vengannoor, Neethu Saleesh, and Sreedevi Subin.
