MANAMA: The Bahrain Odia Samaj celebrated the auspicious annual Ratha Yatra (Chariot Festival) 2026 with immense devotion, cultural grandeur, and spiritual fervor at Adhari Park, bringing together the Indian diaspora to honor one of Odisha’s most sacred traditions.
The auspicious occasion was further elevated by the presence of His Excellency Vinod K. Jacob, the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain. who attended as the chief guest. The Ambassador joined the community members in participating in the traditional rituals with great devotion, highlighting the strong cultural ties and vibrant heritage preserved by the expatriate community in the Kingdom.

Ratha Yatra is a spectacular Hindu festival where the deities are paraded through the streets in massive, elaborately decorated wooden chariots. The celebration traditionally commemorates the journey of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and his sister Subhadra from the main Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple.
Replicating the spiritual essence of the world-famous annual celebration held in Puri, Odisha, the event in Bahrain served as a beautiful reflection of Odia cultural identity. The grand festival not only showcased the rich traditions of the state but also fostered a deep sense of community unity and harmony, making the spectacular celebration truly memorable for all the devotees and visitors in attendance.
