MUHARRAQ — His Excellency Mr. Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al-Mannai, Governor of Muharraq Governorate, chaired a comprehensive session of the Muharraq Governorate Council, praising the deep-rooted civic loyalty of the region’s prominent families, local clubs, and community associations. The Governor emphasized that Muharraq continues to stand as a definitive model of national cohesion and unwavering alignment with the Kingdom’s leadership.
During the session, H.E. the Governor expressed deep appreciation for the leadership’s strategic directives driving the comprehensive Muharraq Development Project. He specifically commended Her Excellency Ms. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, alongside cooperating ministries, for their swift operational efforts in turning these development plans into tangible community realities.
A significant portion of the council meeting focused on preserving Muharraq’s cultural and athletic memory. H.E. Mr. Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al-Mannai stressed that documenting the milestones of national achievers is vital to inspiring future generations. He highlighted this by reviewing a newly published biographical book detailing the historic career of pioneering Bahraini runner Abdullah Bushnab, noting its value to the Kingdom’s sporting legacy.

Reflecting the shared aspirations of local residents, the Governor championed a community proposal to preserve the memory of local trailblazers within the geographic landscape. This includes a formal recommendation from the community to name a prominent road in historic old Muharraq after the celebrated Bahraini writer and poet, Ali Abdullah Khalifa.
The council also pivoted toward future youth development. Professor Mohammed Al-Jazaf, President of the Al-Jazira Cultural Center, alongside Dr. Khaled Boumtaia, President of the Center’s Cultural Council, presented an upcoming suite of specialized summer activities under the banner “Your Summer is Different.” The modern curriculum moves away from traditional seasonal activities, focusing heavily on equipping local youth with highly relevant modern skills. The programs cover foundational concepts and tech applications in artificial intelligence, practical training in contemporary acting techniques, and professional photography and digital composition skills. The Governor highly praised the center’s leadership for their active role in channeling youth energy into productive skill-building opportunities over the summer holiday.
Concluding the council session, Muharraq residents presented localized urban concerns to the leadership. Community representatives collectively voiced an urgent need for updated regulations and stricter enforcement measures concerning motorcycle traffic. Residents requested targeted legislative solutions to control motorcycle movement within dense residential neighborhoods, aiming to directly safeguard pedestrian safety, protect road users, and reduce noise pollution across local communities.
