MANAMA: The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) Bahrain successfully conducted the second weekly event of its 11th consecutive annual summer awareness initiative, “Thirst Quenchers 2026,” on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at a Mohammed Jalal Contracting Company worksite in Galali. This followed the highly successful inaugural event of the campaign, which took place the previous week on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Cebarco worksite in Zallaq, where around 500 workers participated. For the Galali drive, around 200 workers took part.
Aligning closely with the Ministry of Labour’s initiative to ensure a safe and healthy working environment during the sweltering summer months—which officially commenced on June 15, 2026—the campaign focuses on raising critical awareness about health and safety precautions workers should observe during the summer season. At both worksites, the ICRF team distributed essential refreshments, including water, juice, laban, oranges, apples, and bananas. This year’s milestone 11th edition of the campaign, which originally launched in 2016, is prominently supported by the Ministry of Labour, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The launch event in Zallaq was opened by ICRF General Secretary Mr. Aneesh Sreedharan, who welcomed distinguished guests including Mr. Husain Al Hussaini, Senior Occupational Safety Engineer at the Ministry of Labour; Mr. Fahad Abdulaziz Al Bin Ali, Director of Partnerships and Outreach at the LMRA; and Mr. Jose Pediakal, Director of Finance at Cebarco. During the launch, ICRF Chairman Adv. V. K. Thomas commended the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Labour and the LMRA in promoting worker welfare, while ICRF Advisor Dr. Babu Ramachandran addressed the gathering on vital heat safety measures.
The momentum carried directly into the second week at Galali, led by Chairman Adv. V. K. Thomas, Joint Secretary Suresh Babu, Advisor Aruldas Thomas, and other ICRF officials, alongside MJC HSE Officer Rajesh Sadanand. This year’s extensive summer-long campaign of weekly worksite visits is being coordinated by Mr. Chemban Jalal and Ms. Ruchi Chakrabarthy. As in previous years, the initiative continues to thrive on the strong, generous support of the Bohra community, dedicated volunteers, and enthusiastic student groups who actively participated in the distribution drives.
