MANAMA: The Palakkad Arts and Cultural Theatre (PACT) organized a grand Onam celebration at the Indian Club in Manama, bringing together more than 2,000 members of the diaspora in a vibrant showcase of tradition and community fellowship.
The official inauguration was performed by Adv. Shanimol Usman, Deputy Speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. In her inaugural address, she emphasized that Onam delivers a profound message of human harmony and inclusiveness—values that align with the spirit of the Indian Constitution. She praised PACT for its exemplary socio-cultural and charitable initiatives in Bahrain, highlighting the unparalleled role played by the expatriate community in Kerala’s development.
The event was presided over by PACT President Ashok Kumar, with General Secretary Sivadas Nair extending a warm welcome to the gathering. Pambavasan Nair, Managing Director of Amad Group of Companies and Chairman of CMN Trust, attended as the chief guest. Notable dignitaries present included prominent Bahraini businessman Waleed Ibrahim Kanoo, Indian Club President Joseph Joy, and PACT Chief Coordinator Jyothi Menon.
The festivities featured a cultural feast led by the ‘Tharang’ music band, followed by a traditional Palakkadan Onasadhya prepared by Right Choice Caterers. Program conveners Deepak Vijayan, Satheesh Kumar Gopalakrishnan, and K.T. Ramesh, alongside key organizational officials and core committee members, coordinated the arrangements. PACT Women’s Wing President Sajitha Satheesh expressed the vote of thanks.
