Korea and Bahrain Mark 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations with Historic Friendly Volleyball Match

MANAMA: The national volleyball teams of the Republic of Korea and the Kingdom of Bahrain faced off in South Korea on August 29 for a special international friendly match, commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Jointly organized by the Embassy of South Korea in Bahrain, the Embassy of Bahrain in Korea, both national volleyball associations, and the Korean Community Association in Bahrain, the athletic exchange highlighted five decades of bilateral partnership and cultural connection. The event also served as a gesture of solidarity from the Korean people toward the leadership and citizens of Bahrain amid recent regional developments.

The ceremonial opening serve was performed by South Korean Ambassador Choi Byoung-sun, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Bahraini Embassy in Korea, and Oh Han-nam, President of the Korea Volleyball Association, who notably served as head coach of the Bahrain national volleyball team in the 1990s.

Reflecting five decades of mutual trust, organizers expressed confidence that the landmark event will further solidify ties and foster deeper sports and cultural cooperation between the youth of both nations in the years ahead.
