Bahrain Hockey Association Partners with Greater Barishal Welfare Association to Boost Youth Sports

MANAMA: In a historic step toward sports development and community engagement, the Bahrain Hockey Association (BHA) and the Greater Barishal Welfare Association, Bahrain officially signed a landmark Collaboration and Partnership Agreement.

The signing ceremony took place in a festive atmosphere on August 28, 2026, at Al Najma Club in Juffair, attended by leaders of both organizations, community representatives, and sports enthusiasts.

The agreement was formally signed by Sarwor Hossain, General Secretary of the Greater Barishal Welfare Association, Bahrain, and Malik Abid Awan, General Secretary of the Bahrain Hockey Association.

Under the slogan “Together We Collaborate, Together We Promote Hockey,” the two organizations will launch joint initiatives, sporting events, and community outreach programs to expand the reach of hockey across the Kingdom. A core focus of the partnership will be developing local athletic talent and strengthening institutional ties.

As an immediate first step, work has already begun to form separate boys’ and girls’ hockey teams at the Bangladesh School Bahrain. The initiative aims to foster youth sports participation and build a pipeline for future national and international athletes.

The partnership represents a significant milestone in empowering young athletes and advancing community integration through sports in Bahrain.
