MANAMA: Minister of Social Development and Chairman of the National Committee for the Elderly, Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, presided over the committee’s first meeting of 2026 following its reconstitution, with representatives from relevant government bodies and civil society organizations in attendance.
The Minister emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing senior care frameworks, refining specialized services, and improving the overall quality of life for elderly citizens to support their continued integration within society. He called for seamless coordination among stakeholders to deliver initiatives that meet the evolving needs of older adults.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed national demographic statistics, evaluated current day-care center programs, and outlined core strategic priorities for the upcoming period to strengthen support systems and promote active community participation for the elderly.
