MANAMA — The Embassy of Bangladesh in Manama, alongside the Bangladesh Election Commission, officially launched its National Identity Card (NID) registration program on Friday, August 14, 2026. The milestone initiative opens long-awaited government identification services for the Bangladeshi community residing in the Kingdom.
Beginning with a recitation from the Holy Quran, the ceremony was attended by Bangladesh Ambassador to Bahrain, H.E. Mo. Rais Hossain Sarwar, who served as Chief Guest. The gathering drew foreign dignitaries, Election Commission officials, business leaders, media representatives, and diaspora community leaders.
Speaking at the launch, Abdur Rahmanel Masud welcomed guests and highlighted the critical importance of the NID for citizens abroad. Special guest Muhammad Hasanuzzaman emphasized that holding an NID is essential to access Bangladesh’s digital public services. Drawing parallels to Bahrain’s CPR system, he noted that streamlined documentation enhances bilateral ties and administrative efficiency.
During the event, Ambassador Sarwar and dignitaries presented commemorative mementos to guests, while the embassy symbolically issued the first two National Identity Cards to local applicants. The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the nation’s prosperity and the continued success of the expatriate NID rollout.
